- Numerous scientific studies over the years have confirmed that exposure to certain levels of sound can damage hearing.
- Prolonged exposure can actually change the structure of the hair cells in the inner ear, resulting in hearing loss.
- “Noise has an insidious effect in that the more exposure a person has to noise, the more the hearing loss will continue to grow,” says Josara Wallber
- “Hearing loss is irreversible. Once hearing is lost, it’s lost forever.”
- “It’s true that continuous noise exposure will lead to the continuation of hearing loss, but as soon as the exposure is stopped, the hearing loss stops. So a change in environment can improve a person’s hearing health.” - William Luxford
- Other human and animal studies also have linked noise exposure to chronic changes in blood pressure and heart rate.
- Noise has also been shown to affect learning ability.
- In the United States, the Noise Control Act of 1972 empowered the EPA to determine noise limits to protect the public health and welfare, and to establish a noise control office.
- In 1997 the congresswoman introduced legislation that’s become known as the Quiet Communities Act (HR 536), which provided for the refunding of the ONAC and for $21 million to be spent annually on noise reduction.

Loud noise is a problem to our hearing aid. Noise is everywhere, even rural areas do not escape the loud noise. Noise comes from our technology our transportation and where we work. There is no escaping noise. Many studies show that our hearing loss is due to exposure of loud noise. Noise pollution in America is due to the lack of regulation. Not many laws are pass that limits the noise amount and how to manage this noise pollution. The programs that were researching noise pollution got shut down when the Reagan Administration took over. Without fundings the program had to stop their research. Noise pollution continues to grow because of how fast we are advancing the more technology we built the more noise we create. But there is easy solution to all this noise. By controlling how much exposure to noise you are the better the chances you have to reduces your hearing loss.

Noise is a problem to our hearing aid. Loud noise is bad because its making loss our hearing aid faster. The sounds of planes and other flying objects impact our daily life because they are damaging our hearing aid. "Regulations provide an important foundation, Stephenson says, but better education of workers, consumers, businesses, and citizens is critical." America is falling behind once again by ignoring the noise issue. But American citizens should educated themselves too. In order for change to happen one must take action. Americans need to get educated to change some of the easy solutions. If they got educated there could more regulation in what volumes of noises we are expose on daily basis. Its simple really we need to reduce the volume to our noise and stop polluting Some noises can be prevent if we make changes to our daily life. Like put a limit to car stereos not built that produce really loud noises when they are driving.
